What is SIDEVOLT?
SIDEVOLT is a second-screen project that receives notifications from a connected phone. It brings useful information and everyday controls into one dedicated display—it is not a replacement mobile phone.
Does my phone always need to be nearby?
Local features such as proximity detection need a nearby device. Remote notifications require a supported companion app and an internet connection on both ends; they do not work simply by moving out of Bluetooth range.
Can I customize the screen?
Customization is part of the project, including the screen layout, useful shortcuts, brightness and volume. The prototype photos show some of these controls.
How do fall detection and AC control work?
These features require compatible hardware and software. Fall alerts need an appropriate sensor and caregiver notification setup. AC control needs a compatible controller or infrared hardware. Final compatibility and availability have not yet been specified.
Does it have a battery?
A battery is planned for a later phase, so SIDEVOLT can also work as a charger for the phone it is attached to. The current prototype does not include it.
